Ulysses S. Grant- Ulysses had became the youngest president. He was the symbol of the Union Victory during Civil War. At Shiloh Grant fought one of the bloodiest battles in the West. He was attacked by Liberal Republican reformers.
Robert E. Lee- Robert led Southern forces against the Union Army in the American Civil War. When he was eighteen he enrolled at West Point military academy. Lee married the great granddaughter of George and Martha Washington. He was a military officer.
William Tecumseh Sherman- William returned at the Battle of Shiloh to victory and then gathered 100,000 troops destroying Atlanta and devastating Georgia to sea. When he was nine years old his father died leaving the family with few fiances. William was raised by a family friend named Thomas Ewing he was a senator from Ohio and a member of the Wing Party. He was head master at a Military academy in Louisiana.
Clara Barton- Clara became a teacher and worked in the US. She was an independent nurse during the Civil War. Clara was the first president at American Red Cross. She became a teacher at the age of fifteen tears old and she ended up opening a free public school in New Jersey.
Frederick Douglass- Frederick was the most famous intellectuals of his time. His mother died when he was ten years old. He tried escaping from slavery twice before he finally succeeded. His final attempt Anna Murray ended up finding him. They ended up falling in love.
John Quincy Adams- John was the sixth president. He was Americas greatest diplomats. He practiced attorney in Boston. In 1802 he was elected Massachusetts legislature and one year later, he was elected the US Senate.
